Hi all,

(I checked with Lance before posting this, and he gave me the go ahead -- thanks again, Lance!)

Here's a guitar of mine, made in 2010, that some of you have seen before. I hope you enjoy seeing and hearing it again -- or for the first time. I am putting out the word that it is currently available for sale. Maybe some of you know of potential buyers who are looking for just this sort of thing. Your help in spreading the word would be very much appreciated.

I call this body shape/size my Headwaters model. It's a smaller body, 14" wide at the lower bout, very comfortable to hold and play, but it still packs a punch! The body shape puts the bridge in the center of the lower bout for a full sound similar to guitars with 12 frets to the body -- but the neck joins the body at the 15th fret for improved upper fret access. Upper fret access and soundboard motion are also enhanced by the elevated/floating fretboard extension.

Bear claw sitka soundboard, ziricote back and sides, walnut neck, zirocote fretboard and bridge, walnut bindings, eucalyptus burl accents. 15 frets to the body, elevated/floating fretboard extension, side sound port. Schaller gold tuners with ebony knobs.

The guitar has a contemporary sound, both rich and bright, well-balanced, with lots of headroom and fat trebles reminiscent of a great acoustic archtop. But listen for yourself -- here's a short video of Paul Asbell playing "Key to the Highway" on it at the Newport Guitar Festival in 2010 when the guitar was hot off the press:

Currently available for $4750 (negotiable). With a custom Ameritage hardshell case. Thanks for looking and listening!

Todd

Really like the bearclaw top Todd! Nice appointments all around also. Unfortunately work has a FB block on all computers even laptops used at home so I'll have to manually type in the link on my phone later to listen to the soundclip.

That is a beauty indeed. Nice use of wood all round. I really love that zircote.

Here's some more vid of Paul Asbell playing this guitar (this wasn't coming up in my search on youtube earlier, but I found it now...)

(I can't figure out how to embed it, so you'll just have to click on the link.)

One more video... Michael Chapdelaine playing a lovely piece of his own composition on this guitar (you'll need to skip forward to about half way through this video, or listen first to him playing his cool version of "Dock of the Bay" on another guitar of mine):

Here's a second guitar I have currently available. Everywhere this one goes, players and listeners rave about its stellar sound. When I finished it in early 2010, I quickly fell in love with it, so I've kept it as my personal player for these past six years. I’m ready to let it go now, though, so it can go on to new musical adventures in another player’s hands.

These videos of Michael Chapdelaine playing it at the 2010 Newport Guitar Festival will give you a taste of the sound of this guitar:

Similar to "small jumbo" guitars, it has a mid-sized body, 15 ½” wide at the lower bout. The high-waisted, curvaceous Allegheny shape places the bridge in the center of the lower bout for a full tone similar to guitars with 12 frets to the body, but the neck joins the body at the 14th fret for improved upper fret access. Upper fret access and soundboard motion are also enhanced by the elevated/floating fretboard extension.

Made with cream-of-the-crop tonewoods: Lutz spruce soundboard, palo escrito back and sides, Madagascar rosewood fretboard and bridge, Honduran mahogany neck and bindings, and lace sheoak and ebony accents. Evo gold frets, gold Santa Cruz tuners with ebony knobs. 14 frets to the body, elevated/floating fretboard extension, side sound port. Comes with a nice, lightweight hardshell case in excellent condition. Custom Ameritage case also available upon request.

The installed D-TAR Multi-Source pickup system provides excellent, natural-sounding amplified sound.

Currently available for $5750. Thanks for looking and listening!

A few more pics. The last one is of me playing it with my band at the 2014 Ithaca Porchfest.

Hi Todd

Very nice looking and sounding guitars. Could you tell me how you put your name on the case? Thanks - Mike

Beautiful looking and sounding guitars, Todd! Really nicely done!!

May I ask how they were finished? I remember a thread of yours a while back about varnish options and was wondering if one or both of these were varnished.

Thanks, Charlie! These were from before I got into the varnishing. These were finished with polyester by Joe White.
